Louisville Youth Group
Louisville, KY · Serving Greater Louisville and Kentuckiana
The Louisville Youth Group provides LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults with safe, affirming spaces, supportive community connections, and leadership development opportunities. Established in the late 1980s by local community members and PFLAG, the non-profit organization serves hundreds of young people each year across the Greater Louisville metropolitan area and Southern Indiana. Operating from its center on East Broadway, the group empowers youth ages 12 to 24 to grow into resilient, healthy leaders.
The organization delivers weekly drop-in programming and structured youth groups that foster personal growth, social connection, and emotional well-being. Activities include life skills workshops, arts and creative expression nights, mental health discussions, and educational tutoring. The agency also supports local middle and high schools by assisting Gender and Sexuality Alliances with organizational guidance and leadership training through its school outreach initiatives.
In addition to regular drop-in hours, the group organizes signature annual events designed to celebrate queer youth in inclusive environments. Major gatherings include the annual Queer Prom, the Youth Leadership Retreat, the Pasta Dinner and Talent Show, and the New Year's Eve Lock-in. These events provide memorable social milestones where young people can express their authentic identities safely.
Youth and families seeking to participate can register through the intake form on the organization website or visit the East Broadway center during designated programming hours. Community members can get involved by volunteering as youth mentors, serving on committees, providing dinner sponsorships, or making tax-deductible donations to support ongoing youth services.
