Montana Queer Alliance
Helena, MT · Serving Montana statewide with community center in Helena
Montana Queer Alliance provides specialized health services, community programs, and systemic advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and Two-Spirit individuals throughout Big Sky Country. Established in 2025 in Helena, the grassroots organization works to bridge severe healthcare disparities, counter rural isolation, and create accessible spaces where queer Montanans can receive culturally affirming clinical and emotional support regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.
A central focus of the alliance is its affirming mental healthcare and clinical services division. Operating with a dedicated psychiatric care team, the organization provides specialized psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and mental health therapy tailored to LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse patients. The clinic accepts major insurance plans, Montana Medicaid, and maintains a compassionate sliding-fee scale to ensure financial barriers never prevent clients from receiving essential behavioral healthcare. Clinicians also provide knowledgeable assessment, ongoing support, and referral letters for clients navigating medical gender transition.
In addition to specialized clinical care, the alliance operates a welcoming community center space hosting regular peer circles, youth socials, and creative cultural workshops. The organization actively partners with Indigenous, rural, and youth-led groups to advocate for equitable public health policies, promote suicide prevention awareness, and organize community educational events in Helena and surrounding mountain communities, ensuring all residents find safety, dignity, and care.
