Greater Dayton LGBT Center
Dayton, OH · Serving Dayton and the Miami Valley region
The Greater Dayton LGBT Center serves as a welcoming civic home and community resource for sexual and gender minorities throughout Dayton and the Miami Valley region. Established in 1976 by grassroots organizers determined to foster visibility and acceptance in southwestern Ohio, the nonprofit provides a permanent gathering space where residents of all backgrounds can find fellowship, educational resources, and social connection.
The organization maintains a downtown facility that serves as a community crossroads for meetings, mutual aid, and artistic activities. In addition to offering space for grassroots clubs and support circles, the center organizes peer discussions addressing coming out, gender expression, and personal wellness. The agency also provides community referrals connecting individuals with LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare providers, mental health practitioners, and regional social services.
A signature public initiative of the center is organizing Dayton Pride, an annual civic festival and parade that convenes thousands of participants across the metropolitan area to celebrate diversity and promote equal rights. The center also hosts an artisan marketplace, educational seminars, and social gatherings designed to reduce rural and suburban isolation. Through these ongoing efforts, the organization helps ensure that LGBTQ+ community members and their allies throughout Montgomery County and neighboring areas have access to affirming programs and safe public spaces.
