Love on a Mission

Mansfield, OH · Serving Mansfield and North Central Ohio

Serves LGBTQ+ youth ages 12 to 18, their families, and allies in Mansfield and North Central OhioLGBTQIA+Registered nonprofit

Love on a Mission creates an inclusive, supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth, their allies, and their families throughout Mansfield and North Central Ohio. Founded in 2015 by community members who saw an urgent need for affirming youth spaces in Richland County, the grassroots non-profit delivers programs designed to counter isolation, promote emotional wellbeing, and equip young people with the tools needed to thrive.

The agency's core offering is a weekly youth drop-in center catering to middle and high school students ages 12 to 18. Guided by trained adult mentors, these gatherings provide adolescents with a safe physical space to do homework, play games, share meals, and build meaningful relationships with peers. To prepare adolescents for adulthood, the organization facilitates Fly Your Flag, an empowerment curriculum addressing essential life skills including navigating healthcare, communicating personal boundaries, building healthy relationships, and exploring educational goals.

Family acceptance is another vital focus of the organization's mission. Through Pride at Home, Love on a Mission convenes monthly facilitated support gatherings for parents, caregivers, and extended family members of LGBTQ+ youth. These sessions provide an open, compassionate forum for caregivers to ask questions, share experiences, and learn practical strategies to support their children. By partnering with local schools, civic organizations, and community allies, Love on a Mission champions safety, affirmation, and belonging for young people throughout the region.
