Freedom Oklahoma
Oklahoma City, OK · Serving Oklahoma
Freedom Oklahoma serves Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer residents across all 77 counties of Oklahoma. Formed to build a statewide movement for equality and justice, the organization operates educational and advocacy programs dedicated to securing comprehensive legal protections, safety, and affirming resources for 2SLGBTQ+ people of all ages.
The organization's educational initiatives center on civic empowerment and community education. Through its Youth Action Month, Freedom Oklahoma provides young organizers with leadership tools, storytelling workshops, and legislative education to help them advocate effectively in their schools and hometowns. The nonprofit also hosts The Freedom Sessions, regular community discussions that bring together advocates, healthcare practitioners, and residents to examine pressing issues affecting sexual and gender minorities. In public health, the organization coordinates education on HIV criminalization reform, modern medical prevention, and destigmatizing care.
In addition to statewide policy advocacy, Freedom Oklahoma connects residents with direct affirming resources. The organization publishes an inclusive healthcare directory highlighting providers experienced in gender-affirming medical care, culturally competent primary care, and behavioral health support. Through coalitions with local student groups, faith communities, and regional centers, the agency builds statewide solidarity against discriminatory policies.
Community members can access educational materials, attend virtual community sessions, or locate affirming providers through the organization's website. Supporters can get involved by joining civic volunteer teams, participating in legislative education days, or contributing financially to support statewide advocacy campaigns.
