About Juneteenth Jubilee Detroit

A nonprofit that has run Juneteenth events in Detroit since 2019. The 2026 Freedom Weekend had an evening networking event on June 19 and a free-to-register family day on Dexter Avenue on June 20 with vendors, panels, a kid zone and a bake off.

What to expect

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when news of the end of slavery reached Galveston, Texas. It became a federal holiday in 2021. Celebrations often include parades, music, food, history programs and family activities.
