LGBTQ-Owned Businesses in Phoenix to Support in 2026

Phoenix has an LGBTQ-owned business community that reaches a long way past a night out. The Melrose District on 7th Avenue is still the visible heart of it, and that is where most guides stop. Our Valley directory tells a different story: of the LGBTQ-owned businesses listed across the Phoenix metro, only three are bars. The rest are coffee shops, boutiques, therapists, attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, remodelers, a pest control company, and a pool service.

That matters because the spending that keeps a community solvent is mostly unglamorous. Anyone can show up for Pride weekend. Choosing an LGBTQ-owned bookkeeper in February, or an LGBTQ-owned pool tech in July, is the version that pays a mortgage. This guide covers both: where to go, and who to hire.

Where is the center of LGBTQ Phoenix?

The Melrose District, along 7th Avenue north of Indian School Road. It is the closest thing the Valley has to a gayborhood, and it is where the businesses cluster densely enough to walk between them.

Boycott Bar anchors it. Opened in 2004 by Audrey Corley, it is Arizona's last standing lesbian bar and one of a very small number left anywhere in the country, which is why it appeared in the Lesbian Bar Project docuseries. Stacy's @ Melrose sits in the same district, and Sazerac adds a cocktail bar to the map.

Worth saying plainly: three bars is the whole nightlife list in our directory. Phoenix has more LGBTQ nightlife than that. What it does not yet have is more of it recorded here with a source attached, which is a different problem and one that owners can fix in about ten minutes.

Where should I eat and drink?

Coffee is the strongest category. Window Coffee Bar does espresso, pastries, and avocado toast in Phoenix, and is Latino-owned as well. Dialog Coffee is the other Phoenix option. Brick Road Coffee is in Tempe, built by husbands Gabe and Jesse, and serves pizza alongside the coffee.

For a full meal, FEZ does Mediterranean-influenced American plates and cocktails in central Phoenix. Phoenix Coquí is family-owned Puerto Rican. The Coronado is plant-based. Royale Kitchen + Cocktails covers dinner and drinks in one stop. If you want dessert instead, The Scookie Bar at The Churchill builds deep-dish skillet cookies to order and caters from a truck.

Who can I hire, not just visit?

This is the part most city guides skip, and it is where the list is deepest. More than half of the LGBTQ-owned businesses in our Phoenix directory, 26 of the 46, sell services rather than food, drink, or merchandise.

Two of those are worth calling out. PLATZ JURIS PLLC is LGBTQ-owned and immigrant-owned, which is a rare combination to find in one firm and a meaningful one if your legal question sits at that intersection. And Jill Hamilton is the only LGBTQ+ REALTOR® listed anywhere in the metro, a fourth-generation Chandler local working the East Valley with CLHMS and RENE designations.

Where do I shop?

Seven retail listings, and they are genuinely varied rather than seven versions of the same gift shop. The Twisted Botanist does plants and botanicals. Wayward Paws Co. is pet products. Crystal Intuition AZ and Amethyst Unbroken cover crystals, metaphysical goods, and gifts. Lunita Designs and OFF CHUTE TOO round out design and specialty retail.

For events and art rather than shopping, Walter Where?House runs as an art and events venue, and Fully Promoted Tempe and Pack & Kin handle branded merchandise and packaging if you are the one throwing the event.

What about the nonprofit side?

one•n•ten is the organization to know. Founded in 1993, it serves LGBTQ+ youth and young adults ages 11 to 24 across Arizona with social and support programming, and it is the listing on this page most likely to be useful to somebody who is not in a position to spend money at all.

How do I know a listing is actually LGBTQ-owned?

Every listing shows how its ownership was sourced, and the label is not a guess. Most of the businesses on this page are marked publicly listed, meaning the ownership was recorded from a public source such as a chamber directory or the business's own published description. A smaller number are self identified, meaning the owner confirmed it directly.

The distinction is worth understanding before you plan a trip around it. Publicly listed means somebody credible said so in public. Self identified means the owner said so to us. Neither is a certification. If you want the third thing, NGLCC runs the LGBTBE certification program, and certified businesses carry that separately.

We never infer ownership from a name, a photo, or a neighborhood. That rule costs us listings and it is not negotiable, because guessing wrong outs people.

What is missing from this list?

Quite a lot, and it is better to say so. The Valley's LGBTQ-owned business community is larger than the entries recorded here, and the gaps are not random. Nightlife is thin. There is one real estate agent. There is one primary care practice. Whole categories that certainly exist in a metro of five million people, from veterinary care to auto repair to childcare, have nobody listed at all.

If you run one of those businesses, the traffic looking for you is already arriving and there is nowhere to send it. You can add a free listing and it will appear on the Phoenix hub and in the relevant category.

Common mistakes

Treating the bar list as the community. Three bars out of the LGBTQ-owned businesses in our Phoenix directory. If you only spend money at nightlife, you are supporting a small fraction of the people running LGBTQ-owned businesses in this city.

Saving it for June. Pride-month spending is welcome and it is not what carries a business through a Phoenix summer. Recurring services, the accountant and the pool tech and the therapist, are worth more over a year than a busy weekend.

Assuming an ownership tag is a certification. It is a sourced claim with a status attached, and the status is displayed on every listing. Read it rather than assuming.

Assuming a welcoming business is an LGBTQ-owned one. Those are two different things and they carry two different tags. A business tagged as welcoming is stating a posture, not an ownership claim about the people who run it.

Skipping the East Valley. Several of the businesses here are in Tempe and Chandler rather than Phoenix proper. If you filter to the city limits you will miss them.
