Knox County Association for Remarkable Citizens, widely known as KCARC, provides comprehensive lifespan services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in Vincennes through the advocacy of local parents, the nonprofit delivers residential support, early childhood education, day programming, and industrial manufacturing across Knox County and Southwest Indiana. Operating multiple specialized campuses, the organization creates pathways for participants to achieve personal independence and active community inclusion.

Early intervention and youth programming are anchored at the Civitan Children's Center, which delivers accredited preschool classes, developmental therapies, and infant care designed to prepare young learners for future educational success. At The Shop life skills facility, adult participants engage in daily living activities, cooking instruction, artistic expression, and community volunteer projects. The agency also operates comfortable community-based group homes and supported living arrangements staffed around the clock by dedicated direct support professionals.

Workforce development represents a central pillar of the organization's regional impact. Through its commercial manufacturing plants and the Coonrod Production Center, the agency provides competitive employment, packaging work, and textile fabrication for commercial and federal partners. In addition, job placement specialists offer personalized resume assistance, job coaching, and employer partnerships that integrate adults into local workplaces.
