Logan Community Resources, Inc.
South Bend, IN · Serving St. Joseph County and the greater Michiana region of Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan
LOGAN Community Resources is Northern Indiana's landmark human services organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and complex physical conditions. The agency was founded in 1950 when a dedicated coalition of Mishawaka parents, determined to keep their children at home rather than send them to state institutions, opened a modest community school on Logan Street. What began as a grassroots effort among local families has evolved over seven decades into a regional anchor provider with a multi-million-dollar operating budget, serving thousands of children, adults, and families throughout St. Joseph County and adjacent communities in Indiana and Southwestern Michigan.
Early childhood and pediatric intervention are centered at the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism, which operates specialized learning facilities in South Bend and Granger, Indiana, as well as Benton Harbor, Michigan. The center provides clinical diagnostic assessments, individualized Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, and specialized speech, physical, and occupational therapies. Interdisciplinary clinical teams work closely with parents to design individualized treatment plans that build functional communication, emotional regulation, and social engagement, equipping young children with essential developmental skills before they enter local school systems.
Residential living programs form the core of LOGAN's lifespan continuum, providing housing options designed around individual support needs and personal choices. The organization operates numerous community-based group homes staffed around the clock by trained direct support professionals who assist residents with daily living skills, meal preparation, personal care, and social outings. For adults seeking greater autonomy, supported living arrangements assist participants residing in private apartments across the metro area. In addition, LOGAN manages the Hannah and Friends Neighborhood on Hollyhock Road, a residential community featuring recreational amenities, equestrian facilities, and social gathering spaces for adults with disabilities.
Vocational opportunity and economic self-sufficiency are fostered through comprehensive workforce development programs. At LOGAN Industries on Boland Drive, adult participants receive paid vocational training, packaging experience, and light manufacturing work in an accommodating industrial setting. Meanwhile, community employment specialists work one-on-one with job seekers to identify individual career aspirations, craft resumes, practice interview techniques, and secure competitive, integrated positions with regional employers. Once employed, participants receive continuous job retention coaching and employer advocacy to ensure long-term career success.
Complementary adult day programming, adaptive recreation, and protective services enhance overall quality of life. The agency coordinates year-round wellness initiatives, including the TOPSoccer adaptive sports league, specialized summer camps, and social enrichment clubs. For vulnerable adults without family support, LOGAN provides legal guardianship and protective oversight, ensuring medical, financial, and personal safety needs are upheld with dignity. Families, caregivers, and medical providers can connect with the intake department through the South Bend campus on East Jefferson Boulevard, while community members can support LOGAN through volunteer service, corporate sponsorships, and charitable contributions.
