OutFront Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo, MI · Serving Kalamazoo County and Southwest Michigan
OutFront Kalamazoo creates a just, inclusive, and supportive community for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families across Southwest Michigan. Serving the region since 1987, the organization provides essential community center services, transitional housing support, peer connection groups, and public events that celebrate diversity, build mutual understanding, and advance social justice.
The organization operates Legacy House, an affirming transitional housing program designed for LGBTQ+ young adults facing homelessness or housing instability. Residents receive safe shelter, individual case management, life skills training, mentorship opportunities, and educational support to help them achieve long-term independence and stability. In addition to housing assistance, the center provides direct resource navigation for healthcare, legal aid, mental health counseling, food assistance, and emergency shelter services across Kalamazoo County.
OutFront Kalamazoo hosts a wide array of ongoing peer support and social groups for youth, trans and nonbinary adults, women, and older community members. The organization is also the proud organizer of the annual Kalamazoo Pride festival, bringing thousands of community members together downtown. Through year-round programming, youth drop-in spaces, educational community workshops, and active advocacy, OutFront Kalamazoo continues to build a welcoming and supportive regional community where everyone can thrive, connect with supportive peers, and access necessary local care without barriers or discrimination.
