Stand with Trans

Farmington Hills, MI · Serving Metro Detroit and nationwide

Serves Transgender and nonbinary youth, young adults, parents, and families nationwide with roots in MichiganLGBTQIA+Registered nonprofit

Stand with Trans is a dedicated nonprofit organization that provides life-saving support, educational resources, and community connections for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive youth and their families. Founded in 2014 by the mother of a transgender teen in Metro Detroit, the organization has grown into a vital regional and national support network focused on preventing isolation and suicide among gender-diverse young people.

The organization coordinates weekly and monthly virtual and in-person peer support groups for transgender children, middle schoolers, teens, young adults, and their parents and caregivers. These facilitated circles provide safe, affirming spaces where families can share experiences, navigate social and medical transitions, and receive compassionate guidance from experienced parents and trained facilitators.

Through its signature Ally Parents program, Stand with Trans connects questioning or isolated youth with vetted adult allies who provide unconditional emotional support and acceptance. The organization also hosts the annual Transgender Youth Summit, bringing hundreds of youth, families, healthcare professionals, and educators together for workshops on mental health, legal name changes, school advocacy, and artistic expression.

Youth and parents seeking support groups, transition guides, or mentorship can connect through the organization website. Community members can support Stand with Trans by training as Ally Parents, volunteering during annual youth summits, facilitating parent circles, or making charitable contributions to sustain free youth and family programs.
