Manchester, NH · Serving Manchester and Southern New Hampshire

Serves LGBTQIA+ individuals, youth, adults, families, and allies in Manchester and across New HampshireLGBTQIA+Registered nonprofit

Manchester True Collaborative operates New Hampshire's first dedicated LGBTQIA+ community center, situated in an inviting storefront on Concord Street in downtown Manchester. Founded in 2022 by a passionate group of local community leaders, the organization was established to fill a long-standing need for a physical, permanent gathering space where queer, transgender, and nonbinary individuals of all ages can connect, access vital support services, and organize civic initiatives. The center stands as a central pillar for regional community resilience in the Granite State.

At the core of the center's mission is a comprehensive schedule of free peer support groups and identity-affirming social programs. Manchester True Collaborative hosts dedicated discussion circles for youth, young adults, and older community members, alongside specialized parent and caregiver meetups for families raising transgender and gender-nonconforming children. To combat isolation and foster creative expression, the storefront welcomes visitors to structured interest clubs, including the Youth Fiber Arts Club, Dungeons & Dragons tabletop campaigns, casual board game evenings, and guided mindfulness sessions. These gatherings offer low-pressure, supportive environments where individuals share life experiences and cultivate lifelong friendships.

In addition to its daily storefront operations, the collaborative serves as the official organizer of the annual Manchester, NH Pride Festival and Parade. Stepping forward to ensure that the state's largest city continues to host a vibrant, public celebration of diversity, the organization coordinates a multi-day civic festival featuring a parade through downtown streets, a vendor expo with dozens of local non-profits and affirming businesses, live musical performances, and dedicated family areas. The festival draws thousands of participants from across Northern New England, creating unprecedented visibility for the state's LGBTQ+ community.

The collaborative also champions education, youth empowerment, and health equity throughout Southern New Hampshire. Staff and volunteer facilitators partner with local schools, universities, and social service agencies to host youth leadership summits, provide educational workshops on gender diversity, and offer referrals to culturally competent healthcare and mental health professionals. By maintaining an open lending library of queer literature and supplying basic essentials through an on-site care closet, the center meets concrete material and emotional needs for local youth and adults.

Governed by a dedicated volunteer board and supported by individual contributions, business sponsorships, and community foundation grants, Manchester True Collaborative has quickly become an indispensable community institution. Through unwavering advocacy, intentional hospitality, and compassionate peer leadership, the center ensures that LGBTQIA+ people and their families throughout Manchester have an affirming home where they can thrive authentically, access comprehensive resources, and participate fully in civic life for years to come. By centering belonging and mutual care, the center builds an enduring foundation of solidarity and empowerment across New Hampshire. By building bridges across diverse identities and generations, the organization fosters lasting resilience, mutual understanding, and civic pride for all community members throughout the greater Manchester area.
