Serves Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in Salem CountyDisabilityRegistered nonprofit

The Arc of Salem County serves and supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout rural Southern New Jersey. Founded in 1960, the organization delivers comprehensive person-centered programs designed to promote individual dignity, build practical employment skills, and foster active community inclusion for adults and transitioning young people.

A central focus of the agency is its extensive vocational and employment division. Through the Community Rehabilitation Program, participants receive vocational evaluations, work adjustment counseling, job readiness instruction, and paid work experience in janitorial and landscaping operations. The agency also operates Arc Packaging and Assembly Services, an industrial contract enterprise housed in a 25,000-square-foot facility that provides hand assembly, poly bagging, heat sealing, labeling, and product fulfillment for regional businesses. In addition, the organization operates a community thrift shop that offers practical retail training and affordable goods.

Beyond vocational training, the organization provides day habilitation programs emphasizing daily living skills, sensory coordination, communication, and social enrichment. Residential group homes offer supervised communal living that encourages self-determination and interpersonal growth, while respite care programs deliver essential in-home relief time for family caregivers.

Community members can support the organization by shopping or donating goods at the thrift shop, contracting with the packaging facility, or making tax-deductible financial contributions.
