Grand Forks Pride
Grand Forks, ND · Serving Greater Grand Forks metropolitan area and the northern Red River Valley
Grand Forks Pride brings together LGBTQIA+ community members, families, and allies across the Greater Grand Forks area and the northern Red River Valley. Established in 2015 by local community organizers, the initiative is organized and led by an all-volunteer planning committee dedicated to increasing regional visibility, fostering belonging, and creating safe public spaces in Northeast North Dakota.
The organization coordinates an annual Pride celebration each September featuring diverse gatherings tailored to all age groups. Core activities include Pride in the Park, an outdoor community festival that gathers local affirming businesses, artisan craft vendors, non-profit resource tables, and community speakers. The event emphasizes accessible, welcoming grounds where individuals and families celebrate without fear of judgment.
In addition to festival day activities, the planning committee coordinates educational and social programming throughout Pride Week and across the year. The group hosts vibrant drag performances, youth outreach activities, social mixers, and community discussions that build intergenerational connections. Volunteer organizers actively collaborate with regional LGBTQ+ advocacy networks and university student organizations to support young people.
Grand Forks Pride relies on community contributions, small business sponsorships, and local volunteer power to keep celebrations free and open to the public. Through consistent grassroots organizing, the committee champions diversity and acceptance in Greater Grand Forks.
