Maureen Cassidy is the photographer and owner behind Maureen Cassidy Photography, a studio she runs from the near east side of Madison, Wisconsin. Photography has been her passion since high school, when she staged creative sessions with her friends and spent late nights in the darkroom developing prints by hand, and she has kept building on it through courses and workshops with professional photographers from around the world. She has been a professional for more than sixteen years, and she has been voted Best of Madison for ten years. Her approach is documentation with creativity. On a wedding day she works with two cameras and describes herself as the couple's behind the scenes photo ninja, quietly catching the joy, the emotion, the chaos, the beauty and the small in between moments that make the day theirs. She says she takes photos of everything, and that her favorites are the couple before the ceremony, the wedding party afterward, and the dancing at the reception. The goal is images that let people relive the day rather than images that look like everyone else's wedding. Maureen Cassidy Photography is a woman owned business, and Maureen identifies as queer. Her own site answers the LGBTQIA+ question head on: love is love, all identities, genders and relationships are welcome, and she is committed to creating a space where couples feel seen, celebrated and completely themselves. She is a proud member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and her work has been featured on HuffPost. Wedding collections begin at $3,700, and every collection includes a free consultation in person, by video or by phone call, a professional second photographer for more candid coverage of the people the couple loves, a private online gallery that the couple and their guests can share and download from, and the digital collection of professionally hand edited images with full printing rights. Packages can be customized, albums and heirloom prints are available through a professional print shop connected to the gallery, and she carries insurance. Wedding galleries take about two months and portrait galleries about one month. Beyond weddings she photographs engagements and proposals at a $150 session fee for an hour, family sessions at $150 for thirty minutes or $199 for an hour, newborn sessions at $600 in the family's home or her studio, maternity sessions at $150, high school senior sessions at $150, college graduate sessions on campus from $350, headshots and branding for people who want a photograph that actually looks like them, and boudoir. Her family sessions come with no awkward posing and no pressure to be perfect, and she is candid about working around nap time for newborns. She works across Madison and the surrounding area and travels near and far, including destination weddings. She has traveled all her life, has reached every continent, and has worked at the South Pole in Antarctica.
