Beauty & Personal Care in the Madison area

Rebel Hair

Beauty & Personal Care

Rebel Hair

Madison, WI

Rebel Hair is an artsy hair salon on Madison's west side, and the name is a fair warning. The chairs are open, the styles are bold, and everyone is welcome. It is a salon for people who want their hair to look like them, and for the kind of change that deserves a long appointment and a proper plan. Vivid color is the signature: a spectrum of striking and vibrant hues, built with a stylist who knows what it takes to get there and what it takes to keep it. Blonding sits alongside it for anyone who dreams in platinum, from a seamless retouch to an all over transformation. Natural color is there for a refresh that leaves the hair's own tones intact. Cuts are tailored to the person and finished properly rather than handed back wet, and treatments, add ons and brow enhancements round out the menu. Extensions are the other specialty, and they begin with a consultation rather than a booking. Half an hour to talk through the goal, work out which method suits that particular hair, and put an exact quote on both the hair and the installation, so the whole plan is settled before anyone commits to it. The salon sits on Junction Road with a gallery wall of prints, a fridge of cold drinks for the long appointments, and a pink neon sign that gives the room its name. It is an inclusive LGBTQ+ space, and the welcome is the whole point: creativity and community both need somewhere to happen, and this is a room built so they can. Cassie Redmond owns Rebel Hair and has worked in hair since 2005, first as a stylist and then as a color educator, before opening a salon of her own. The team she has built works the way she does, warm and casual, more interested in what someone is picturing than in what is trending, and set on sending every guest back out feeling confident, welcomed and celebrated.

Maureen Cassidy Photography

Madison, WI

Maureen Cassidy is the photographer and owner behind Maureen Cassidy Photography, a studio she runs from the near east side of Madison, Wisconsin. Photography has been her passion since high school, when she staged creative sessions with her friends and spent late nights in the darkroom developing prints by hand, and she has kept building on it through courses and workshops with professional photographers from around the world. She has been a professional for more than sixteen years, and she has been voted Best of Madison for ten years. Her approach is documentation with creativity. On a wedding day she works with two cameras and describes herself as the couple's behind the scenes photo ninja, quietly catching the joy, the emotion, the chaos, the beauty and the small in between moments that make the day theirs. She says she takes photos of everything, and that her favorites are the couple before the ceremony, the wedding party afterward, and the dancing at the reception. The goal is images that let people relive the day rather than images that look like everyone else's wedding. Maureen Cassidy Photography is a woman owned business, and Maureen identifies as queer. Her own site answers the LGBTQIA+ question head on: love is love, all identities, genders and relationships are welcome, and she is committed to creating a space where couples feel seen, celebrated and completely themselves. She is a proud member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and her work has been featured on HuffPost. Wedding collections begin at $3,700, and every collection includes a free consultation in person, by video or by phone call, a professional second photographer for more candid coverage of the people the couple loves, a private online gallery that the couple and their guests can share and download from, and the digital collection of professionally hand edited images with full printing rights. Packages can be customized, albums and heirloom prints are available through a professional print shop connected to the gallery, and she carries insurance. Wedding galleries take about two months and portrait galleries about one month. Beyond weddings she photographs engagements and proposals at a $150 session fee for an hour, family sessions at $150 for thirty minutes or $199 for an hour, newborn sessions at $600 in the family's home or her studio, maternity sessions at $150, high school senior sessions at $150, college graduate sessions on campus from $350, headshots and branding for people who want a photograph that actually looks like them, and boudoir. Her family sessions come with no awkward posing and no pressure to be perfect, and she is candid about working around nap time for newborns. She works across Madison and the surrounding area and travels near and far, including destination weddings. She has traveled all her life, has reached every continent, and has worked at the South Pole in Antarctica.

Erin Anderson Real Estate - First Weber

Fitchburg, WI

Hey! I’m Erin Anderson, your not-so-typical real estate agent. I live and work in Madison and I help people buy and sell homes with a full-service approach that combines professional polish with real, human support. That means I manage everything from listing prep (staging, pro photos, 3D tours and floorplans) to marketing (targeted mailers, social, email campaigns), negotiating offers, and smoothing out the closing details so you don’t have to. My clients tell me they love my blend of seriousness and humor. I’m organized, honest, and I’ll tell you what you need to hear (and the occasional thing you’d rather not). I specialize in helping first-time buyers find their footing, sellers maximize their return, and busy professionals move with minimal stress. I work all around Dane County Madison, Middleton, Fitchburg, Sun Prairie, Verona, Waunakee and lean on a trusted local network of lenders, inspectors, contractors to get deals done.
