Sun Prairie Pride Fest

Sun Prairie Pride Fest is a free, family-friendly afternoon at Sun Prairie West High School. It offers a makers market, food vendors, a resource fair and activities, with a Friday night concert at Wetmore Park the evening before.

Sun Prairie Pride Fest is planned by a collective of local leaders in partnership with the Sun Prairie Area School District, the City of Sun Prairie, faith communities, nonprofits, businesses and many volunteers. The goal is a safe, inclusive event where kids and families feel supported, and a public message that Sun Prairie is for everyone.

The organizers tie the festival directly to youth well-being. They point to Dane County Youth Assessment data showing that 38.7 percent of LGBTQ high school students had thought about suicide in the past year, compared with 13.9 percent of straight students, and that 58.2 percent reported symptoms of depression, compared with 24.4 percent. The festival aims to connect young people and their families with resources and positive role models who can support them all year.

The event is free, and every dollar raised goes back into it. The city invites visitors to make a weekend of it, starting with a Friday night outdoor concert at Wetmore Park and a Saturday morning farmers market at Cannery Square before the festival.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 27, 2026. It usually falls late June.
