South Coast LGBTQ+ Network
New Bedford, MA · Serving South Coast Massachusetts (including New Bedford, Fall River, and Taunton)
The South Coast LGBTQ+ Network builds and maintains a comprehensive regional support system for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals and their families across southeastern Massachusetts. Serving New Bedford, Fall River, Taunton, and surrounding coastal communities, the organization provides free, identity-affirming social programs, professional case management, and civic education to ensure all community members can live authentically.
Youth initiatives center on the Elevate LGBTQ+ Youth program, which supports young people ages eight through 24 along with their parents and caregivers. Through positive adult mentorship, peer social drop-ins, and leadership development workshops, the program fosters emotional resilience and self-confidence in safe, welcoming settings. For older adults, the Aging Well initiative delivers comprehensive elder case management, friendly visitor check-ins, and social gatherings designed to reduce social isolation among LGBTQ+ seniors across the region.
The network operates a specialized Trans & Nonbinary Resource Hub offering personalized guidance for legal name changes, gender marker updates, and healthcare navigation, alongside affirming peer support circles. In addition to conducting educational workshops for local schools, healthcare providers, and municipal agencies, the organization coordinates regional South Coast Pride celebrations and curates the South Coast LGBTQ+ Museum to preserve local queer heritage. Community members can access confidential support, attend group gatherings, or volunteer through the network to build inclusive spaces.
