Gender Justice

Gender Justice is a nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to advancing gender equity and dismantling legal, structural, and cultural barriers based on sex, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Founded in 2010 and based in Saint Paul, the organization utilizes high-impact strategic litigation, policy advocacy, and public education to protect civil rights and bodily autonomy across Minnesota, North Dakota, and the Upper Midwest.

The organization's legal team represents individuals facing discrimination in employment, healthcare access, education, and public accommodations. Gender Justice has litigated landmark cases protecting transgender athletes, defending gender-affirming medical care, expanding reproductive healthcare access, and ensuring workplace protections against sex discrimination and sexual harassment. The team also files amicus briefs in state and federal appellate courts to safeguard civil rights precedent.

In addition to courtroom litigation, Gender Justice leads the UnRestrict Minnesota coalition, a multi-organizational public education and advocacy campaign dedicated to expanding reproductive freedom and healthcare access statewide. The organization produces educational resources, hosts legal know-your-rights workshops, tracks state legislation, and publishes the Gender Justice Podcast to inform the public on critical judicial decisions and civil rights battles.
