Trans Northland
Duluth, MN · Serving Duluth, Twin Ports, Northeastern Minnesota, and Northwestern Wisconsin
Trans Northland provides peer-led support, community connection, and vital resource navigation for transgender, nonbinary, Two-Spirit, intersex, and gender-diverse people across northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. Founded as a grassroots community gathering in downtown Duluth, the organization creates welcoming, affirming environments where gender-expansive individuals and their loved ones can build lasting relationships, share lived experiences, and access essential community services without fear of prejudice or misunderstanding.
The organization facilitates regularly scheduled peer support groups tailored for transgender adults, gender-expansive youth, and family members. These gatherings offer confidential and validating spaces to discuss social transition, healthcare navigation, workplace experiences, family dynamics, and interpersonal relationships. Beyond structured support circles, Trans Northland organizes social gatherings, mutual aid drives, educational workshops, and seasonal community celebrations that foster visibility, belonging, and solidarity across the greater Twin Ports area.
In addition to direct peer programming, Trans Northland maintains an extensive regional resource directory covering gender-affirming medical providers, mental health counselors, welcoming faith communities, affirming employers, and legal aid resources. The organization also delivers educational presentations, community workshops, and consulting services to regional healthcare clinics, school districts, social service agencies, and civic organizations seeking to improve institutional care, administrative practices, and inclusivity for gender-diverse people across northern Minnesota and neighboring Wisconsin communities.
