The Las Vegas Urban League is the premier civil rights, economic empowerment, and community action organization dedicated to advancing self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights for African Americans and low-to-moderate-income families across Clark County. Chartered in 2004 as an affiliate of the National Urban League and officially designated as a Community Action Agency, the organization delivers vital antipoverty programs, small business incubation, workforce development, early childhood education, and family health initiatives that serve thousands of Southern Nevada residents each year.

The agency’s signature economic initiative is the Las Vegas Urban League Entrepreneurship Center. Designed to foster minority business ownership, small business sustainability, and long-term generational wealth creation, the center provides aspiring entrepreneurs and established business owners with comprehensive business plan development, financial literacy training, marketing guidance, accounting assistance, and direct access to capital resources. The center regularly hosts educational workshops, executive masterclasses, networking forums, and signature small business pitch competitions that award non-dilutive grant capital and ongoing executive mentoring to innovative local enterprises, strengthening the regional small business ecosystem and creating sustainable career opportunities across Southern Nevada.

Family health and early childhood nutrition represent another core operational division for the agency. The organization manages the Women, Infants, and Children supplemental nutrition program across Southern Nevada, operating specialized neighborhood clinic centers that provide nutritious food vouchers, maternal health education, infant nutrition counseling, and breastfeeding peer support. Through these clinics, registered dietitians, certified lactation consultants, and healthcare specialists ensure that low-income pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children receive vital health screenings, nutritional guidance, immunization referrals, and primary healthcare access during critical stages of early childhood development.

Workforce readiness, job placement, and family stabilization are addressed through integrated community action services. The agency provides job seekers with computer literacy classes, individualized resume coaching, interview preparation, vocational certifications, and direct job placement partnerships with top regional employers in hospitality, healthcare, construction, clean energy, and logistics across the Las Vegas Valley. For families experiencing acute financial distress, the organization offers emergency rental and utility assistance, housing counseling, and community resource navigation to prevent homelessness, alleviate immediate hardship, and stabilize households in times of crisis. The agency also runs youth STEM camps, academic tutoring, and civic leadership programs that inspire rising generations of community leaders.

Community members can access workforce programs, business development services, and family assistance by visiting the administrative headquarters on North Decatur Boulevard or scheduling an appointment online. Mothers and families can access WIC nutrition services at neighborhood clinics located throughout Clark County. Civic leaders, business professionals, and community supporters can get involved by serving as entrepreneurial mentors, sponsoring workforce training cohorts, participating in community action forums, or making tax-deductible financial contributions to support economic empowerment and social equity throughout Nevada.
