The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada is the flagship community center and primary healthcare provider dedicated to serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals, families, and allies across the Las Vegas Valley. Founded in 1993 by dedicated grassroots activists seeking a safe, affirming, and permanent visible home for the local community, the organization has grown over more than three decades into a nationally recognized social service institution operating a custom-built 16,000-square-foot campus on South Maryland Parkway in downtown Las Vegas.

The organization’s health and clinical services division represents a major regional medical anchor for underserved populations throughout Clark County. The Center operates a fully licensed primary care and sexual health clinic delivering free and confidential rapid HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infection testing, alongside comprehensive medical treatment and linkage to long-term healthcare. Specialized care coordinators provide personalized navigation for pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis medications, while the on-site community pharmacy ensures seamless, stigma-free access to life-saving pharmaceuticals. The agency also deploys a mobile medical clinic to deliver preventative health screenings, harm reduction supplies, vaccine clinics, and clinical education to neighborhoods throughout Southern Nevada.

Behavioral wellness is supported through Empower Behavioral Health, the center’s specialized clinical counseling program. Staffed by licensed mental health professionals, the clinic provides affordable individual therapy, couples counseling, family support, and trauma-informed crisis intervention. In addition, the center hosts more than 20 weekly 12-step recovery circles, peer discussion groups, and specialized support meetings for transgender and gender-diverse community members, LGBTQ+ military veterans, women, and individuals living with HIV. These structured groups provide vital peer connection and emotional support for residents navigating personal growth and recovery.

Youth and intergenerational programs are central to the center's everyday life and long-term community mission. The Youth and Family Services department provides an affirming daily drop-in center equipped with a computer lab, study tables, lending library, food pantry, and hot meal services for youth ages 13 to 24. Dedicated youth staff offer academic tutoring, workforce readiness training, college application guidance, leadership development, and creative arts workshops. For older adults, the senior programming division hosts weekly social luncheons, computer literacy classes, health screenings, and cultural outings that combat social isolation and foster strong community ties across generations. The Center Advocacy Network also trains community leaders in civic engagement and legal rights protection.

Community members can access clinic appointments, drop-in services, and support meetings by visiting the South Maryland Parkway facility during regular weekday and weekend hours or contacting the center by phone. Multipurpose meeting spaces are also available for local community groups, recovery fellowships, and civic partner events. Community supporters can sustain the organization’s life-saving mission by volunteering as desk hosts or event assistants, attending annual benefit galas, or making tax-deductible charitable contributions to fund essential community programs.
