Our Center Reno

Our Center Reno is the primary LGBTQ+ community center serving Reno, Sparks, and Northern Nevada. Established in 2011 by community advocates who launched the Build Our Center campaign, the organization opened its dedicated physical facility to create an affirming, accessible gathering place where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals can access essential wellness services, crisis support, and community connection.

Operating from its center on South Wells Avenue, the organization provides walk-in access to crucial basic needs and healthcare resources. In partnership with regional health providers, the center hosts regular free and confidential rapid HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infection testing clinics. The facility also features an emergency community food pantry, a gender-affirming clothing boutique, computer stations, and public lounge areas. Staff and university social work interns provide individualized case management and resource navigation to help community members access housing, medical care, legal aid, and mental health counseling.

Community building is fostered through an active schedule of peer support groups for youth, transgender adults, seniors, and neurodiverse community members. The organization also coordinates the Youth and Teen Prevention Coalition, engaging adolescents in peer leadership, substance misuse prevention, and social activities. Community members can visit the South Wells Avenue center during open weekly hours or submit a case management request online. Supporters can get involved by volunteering as center hosts, organizing pantry drives, or providing financial donations to sustain vital local programs.
