Silver State Equality

Silver State Equality is Nevada’s statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights and advocacy organization, dedicated to bringing the voices of LGBTQ+ people and allies to institutions of power to create a healthier, more just, and fully equal state. Established in 2019 in partnership with Equality California, the organization advances full societal equity through legislative advocacy, public education, healthcare policy reform, and grassroots mobilization.

The agency works actively within the Nevada Legislature and municipal governing bodies to sponsor and pass pro-equality legislation. Key advocacy priorities include protecting gender-affirming healthcare access, expanding nondiscrimination protections, updating state HIV modernization statutes, and defending safe, inclusive learning environments in public schools. Through its public health division, Silver State Equality leads statewide outreach campaigns addressing health disparities, raising awareness of preventative care, and promoting access to HIV screenings and treatment.

Youth leadership and education form central pillars of the organization’s mission. Through its Nevada LGBTQ+ Student Advisory Council and statewide school climate surveys, the agency empowers young advocates to shape anti-bullying policies and foster welcoming school environments across urban and rural school districts. Community members can access policy updates, action toolkits, and educational resources through the organization website. Supporters can get involved by joining grassroots organizing teams, attending legislative lobby days, or making charitable contributions through the Silver State Equality Institute.
