Human Rights Alliance Santa Fe
Santa Fe, NM · Serving Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico
The Human Rights Alliance Santa Fe is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, engaging, and celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion, pride, and civil rights throughout Northern New Mexico. Founded in 1993 in response to statewide legislative struggles for civil rights protections, the organization has served for more than three decades as a vital community pillar fostering queer visibility, cultural celebration, and intergenerational support.
The alliance serves as the official organizer of Santa Fe Pride, coordinating the city’s annual parade, plaza festival, youth activities, and community celebrations that draw thousands of participants to downtown Santa Fe each summer. Beyond the annual Pride festival, the organization fosters ongoing community connection through year-round networking programs such as Equal Grounds, a regular morning coffee meetup for LGBTQ+ professionals, and Pride After Five, an evening social gathering that builds social and professional ties among residents and local business owners.
Empowering emerging generations is a key priority for the alliance. Through the Human Rights Alliance Endowed Education Scholarship at Santa Fe Community College, the organization provides direct financial assistance to LGBTQ+ students pursuing higher education and vocational credentials. Community members can access information regarding civic events and local resources through the organization website. Supporters can get involved by volunteering during Pride weekend, participating in monthly networking meetups, or making tax-deductible contributions to fund youth scholarships and community programs.
