Aberdeen Area Pride Festival

Aberdeen Area Pride celebrates LGBTQ+ equality in northeastern South Dakota with a multi-day festival. The 2026 program included a Pride art exhibition at Red Rooster Coffee House, a pre-party, opening ceremonies, a PRIDE Fest at City Lights Event Center, a free grill-out picnic, karaoke and an 18-plus drag show.

The festival weekend is paired with the Aberdeen Area Pride Art Exhibition, which invites local artists to submit up to four works each. In 2026 the show hung from June 1 through July 4, and an artists reception on the Friday evening of Pride weekend was followed by karaoke, snacks and a photo booth.

The main evening party at City Lights Bar & Event Center ran from 8 to 11 p.m. with a $15 cover, and the 2026 music lineup included Insomniac Folklore, Quinlan Valdez and Cecilia Anderson. Local businesses selling goods and nonprofit groups can apply through the organizers' website for a booth, and the same form handles sponsorships. Food vendor applications were not being accepted for 2026.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 23-27, 2026. It usually falls late June.
