Gettysburg Pride

Gettysburg Pride is a weekend celebration with a Pride walk downtown and a festival with shows, vendors and activities at the Rec Park. The 2026 theme was Pride 250: A New Birth of Freedom.

Gettysburg Pride 2026 ran over three days at the end of May under the theme Pride 250: A New Birth of Freedom. Friday opened at Gettysburg Area Middle School with remarks from Mayor Alison Lintal and a Pride Walk carrying American and Pride flags along the sidewalk to Lincoln Square and back. That evening, a free showcase of music, storytelling and drag took place at the Unitarian Universalists of Gettysburg, with seats reserved in advance.

Saturday's festival filled the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park from late morning into the evening, with parking at Gettysburg Hospital and PNC Bank. The amphitheater program included a Gettysburg Pride version of America the Beautiful, a land acknowledgment and talk on Two-Spirit people by Gettysburg College educator Dr. Stephanie Sellers, a talk by retired Major General Gale Pollock linking the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address and the Pride movement, a reading of the Gettysburg Address, and choral sets from the Cadence Treble Chorus and the UU Gettysburg Choir. The day ended with an open dance party on the lawn.

Saturday night offered two choices: a drag show for ages 18 and up at the Adams County Arts Council, and a free, alcohol-free all-ages dance party at Waldo's & Company on Lincoln Square. A donation-based yoga session at the Rec Park closed the weekend. Organizers suggest bringing handheld flags, a chair or blanket, and a refillable water bottle.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Gettysburg Pride has included pride walk, festival and drag show.

The next edition is June 4-5, 2027. It usually falls late May or early June weekend.
