CommUNITY Pride Week (Saugatuck-Douglas)

CommUNITY Pride Week is a week-long celebration across Saugatuck and Douglas on the Lake Michigan shore. Events include a paddle cruise on the lake, a Jazz for Justice block party, a two-mile Pride color run, and guest presentations. The week ends with the CommUNITY Pride Parade and Pride in the Park at Beery Field in Douglas, and 2026 was the seventh annual Pride Week.

CommUNITY Pride Week is organized by CommUNITY PRIDE Saugatuck-Douglas, a group that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community through events, partnerships, ongoing support and advocacy throughout the year. It works with allies and local partners to build connection and equality in the two lakeshore towns and beyond.

The organization's vision is a community where people of every gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression feel seen, safe, valued and included. Its stated values center on service and collaboration, visible and authentic representation of LGBTQIA+ people, and lifelong learning through safe and respectful spaces for dialogue. The week of events, which ends with the parade and Pride in the Park, is the most visible part of that work, with the aim of bringing residents and visitors together around joy, visibility and belonging.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

CommUNITY Pride Week (Saugatuck-Douglas) has included parade, festival, color run, paddle cruise, tea dance and speaker events.

The next edition is June 2-6, 2027. It usually falls first week of June, ending with a Saturday parade and Pride in the Park.
