Hamden Pride Fest

Hamden Pride Fest is a community Pride festival held with Hamden Recreation, with food trucks, vendors, crafters, and exhibitors.

Hamden Pride describes its festival as a joyful, educational and family-friendly day in the park meant to strengthen the local community. The organizers connect the event to the first Pride gatherings on June 28, 1970, held a year after the Stonewall Riots, and see Pride as a chance for LGBTQIA+ people and allies to celebrate their identities while continuing to advocate for their rights and dignity.

Children's activities are part of the plan, including a rock climbing wall. If bad weather is forecast, the festival moves to a rain location on the same day and at the same time, with updates posted on Instagram and on the Hamden Pride Facebook event page. Friendly, healthy dogs are welcome, as long as owners clean up after them and use a non-retractable leash.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
