Alamance Pride Festival

Alamance Pride is a nonprofit that works for LGBTQ+ visibility in Alamance County and holds an annual festival in downtown Burlington. The 2026 festival is on October 3. The group also runs monthly socials and a scholarship program, and marked its 10th year in 2025.

Alamance Pride was founded in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it describes itself as the leading voice for LGBTQ+ visibility in Alamance County. Its stated goals are to raise that visibility and to weave LGBTQ+ residents into the civic life of the county, which includes building local leadership and making sure the community has a seat at the table in public affairs.

The festival is the centerpiece of the year, and it is paired with a 21-and-over drag show called Pride After Dark. Local vendors can reserve space at the festival each year. Beyond festival season, the group runs its See and Be Seen socials in partnership with LGBTQ+ friendly businesses around the county, awards its scholarship to a local high school senior, and enters a float in the annual Burlington Christmas Parade.

The organization also keeps a list of verified, friendly local businesses and works to preserve the stories of LGBTQ+ people who have lived, worked and raised families in the county for generations. It aims to serve all of Alamance County, naming Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Elon, Gibsonville, Haw River and Swepsonville among the communities it reaches, and it counts straight allies and their organizations as part of that work.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
