Block Island Pride

Block Island Pride is organized by Queer Block Island and has been held each September since 2021. The weekend includes a Pride March and the Yellow Kittens Drag Show on Saturday, plus a Sunday brunch, and Saturday works as a day trip by ferry.

Queer Block Island has set the next Block Island Pride for September 10 to 12, 2027. Because lodging on the island is limited and prices climb as the season approaches, organizers advise booking a place to stay during the winter. Ferry reservations for vehicles open in January, so anyone bringing a car should reserve early.

Visitors do not need a car or an overnight stay to take part. The group suggests catching one of the first two ferries on Saturday, spending the day at the Pride March and the Yellow Kittens Drag Show, and returning on an evening boat. Walk-on ferry service makes the island easy to reach without a vehicle.

Past weekends have also included smaller activities around town, such as rainbow tie-dye at the Traveling Seamstress. The full schedule, with times and locations, is posted on the Queer Block Island website closer to the weekend.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
