About New London Pride
New London Pride is organized by OutCT, an LGBTQ+ advocacy nonprofit. A week of events in early August ends with a family-oriented Pride festival at Ocean Beach with local performers, musicians, artisan vendors, and resource booths.
OutCT, the group behind New London Pride, is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2013 by LGBTQ+ people and allies in Southeastern Connecticut who came together to plan a Pride festival in New London. The organizers soon found enough interest to do more, and they have since added an art exhibit, a film series, educational forums, drag shows and a youth program.
The group's goals include promoting human and civil rights, working against prejudice and discrimination, creating chances for positive LGBTQ+ visibility, and supporting other community groups. It funds and plans the Pride festival, partners with businesses and community organizations on education and outreach, and shares resources through a website and newsletter.
OutCT is led by a volunteer board of directors. Members have included Xavier Day, who directs Ryan White services at Alliance for Living and has served as the board's secretary and as Pride co-chair.
