DC Dyke March

DC Dyke March is a volunteer-run protest march held during DC Pride by a grassroots group of organizers who also raise money for the community. The 2026 march on June 5 began with speakers at Dupont Circle at 6 p.m. and stepped off at 7 p.m. The route is wheelchair accessible, with ASL and Spanish interpretation and free masks.

DC Dyke March is organized by a grassroots group of community-minded dykes working toward queer and dyke liberation in the DC metro area. Each year the group plans a march that is intentionally held without a permit and without corporate sponsorship, and it asks that press and police stay out of the space.

The organizers frame the march as part of a broader fight against white supremacy, capitalism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of oppression. They describe their work as building on what earlier generations of dykes started and laying groundwork for those who come after, so that dykes can keep celebrating both their existence and their resistance.

During the planning season the group also hosts community events and raises money. Those funds cover community events and supplies, pay dyke artists, and go to mutual aid organizations once the march is over. Supporters can also buy the year's DC Dyke March shirt.

Dyke Marches are grassroots marches for lesbian, bisexual and queer women and gender-expansive people, usually non-commercial and often held the same weekend as the city's main Pride.

DC Dyke March has included speakers, march and asl and spanish interpretation.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 5, 2026. It usually falls friday before or during Capital Pride in June.
