Let Love Fly

Let Love Fly is North Liberty's Pride celebration in Centennial Park. The 2026 event was its fifth year.

Let Love Fly is put on by the City of North Liberty as an all-ages celebration of LGBTQ+ love, and admission is free. Mega kites between 50 and 200 feet long fill the sky over Centennial Park, and the North Liberty Youth Council hands out 400 free kites while supplies last, with more for sale from Great American Kites.

Inside the Hy-Vee Center, the Iowa Raptor Project leads educational programs with live birds of prey, and Forever Green brings a mobile butterfly house where visitors can walk among more than 100 free-flying butterflies. Food and treat trucks, a DJ, library and recreation staff, local organizations and sponsors with giveaways round out the day.

Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics, and leashed dogs are welcome. Alcohol, tobacco and vaping are not allowed in city parks. Public restrooms are available on the outside of the event center, parking is on the paved lots and nearby streets, and the city encourages walking or biking to the park. People who need accommodations for a disability can contact the city ahead of time.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls mid-June.
