Mansfield Celebrate Pride

The Town of Mansfield marks Pride Month with a flag raising at Town Hall and a free, all-ages Celebrate Pride gathering on Betsy Paterson Square in Storrs Center.

The Town of Mansfield opens Pride Month with a flag raising in the Town Hall courtyard facing South Eagleville Road, joined by members of the Town Council, the Human Rights Commission, the Human Services Department and the E. O. Smith High School GSA. The ceremony moves indoors to the Council Chambers if it rains, and the town gives out free Pride flags while supplies last.

Celebrate Pride on Betsy Paterson Square in downtown Storrs has included free tie-dyeing of Pride shirts designed by an E. O. Smith student, information tables, a selfie station, free pins, stickers and bracelets, and displays of children's books. If the weather turns, the event moves to the Mansfield Community Center. The Downtown Storrs Parking Garage, about a three-minute walk away, is free for the first two hours.

The Mansfield Public Library shares LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive reading lists during June. The town's Human Rights Commission, which promotes human rights values in town programs and across northeastern Connecticut, meets virtually on the first Wednesday of each month.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 5, 2026. It usually falls first Friday of June.
