Muncie Pride

Muncie Pride is an annual festival organized by Muncie OUTreach at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie. It features live music and performances, a community and vendor village, food trucks and family activities.

Muncie OUTreach, which hosts the festival, is a community center and support network for LGBTQ+ youth and allies in East Central Indiana. It began as a grassroots effort to give LGBTQ+ youth in Delaware County a safe place to gather, took shape with support from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie and guidance from other OUTreach programs, and eventually found a home at the YWCA.

The center offers weekly programs, creative activities and discussion groups, drop-in hours from 3 to 8 p.m. with no advance registration needed, and connections to health, mental health and social services. It also works with schools, families and local organizations to build more inclusive environments. April Denney serves as program manager, and a board of directors guides the organization.

The Pride festival brings together LGBTQ+ youth, adults, families, allies, artists and organizations, with games, contests, interactive activities and tables from community resource groups. The schedule, performers, parking and shuttle details are announced as each year's event approaches, and the day depends on volunteers, sponsors and vendors.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Muncie Pride has included festival, live music, drag, vendor village and food trucks.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held September 12, 2026. It usually falls second Saturday of September.
