Pride in the Pee Dee

Pride in the Pee Dee is an annual Pride festival at City Center Market in Florence, organized by Pee Dee Equality. It features performers, local vendors and youth activities. The group holds it in October rather than June to avoid summer heat and to coincide with National Coming Out Day.

The festival is free and open to the public, and visitors can come and go throughout the day. It includes a Kid Zone with crafts, local vendors, food trucks, nonprofit tables and performers, though no alcohol is served. Parking is available around the farmers market and in a paved lot a block away, and the Florence City Farmers Market has restrooms on site.

The 2026 lineup on October 10 features DJ Johnny Bravo of Bravo Entertainment, returning performer Eric Who, and a drag show hosted by Patti O'Furniture with Diamond Giavonni, Judy Simmons and Aurelia Steel, who is making her drag debut. Attendees can enter a colorful outfit contest on the catwalk at the Pee Dee Equality booth for a Bean Bar gift card and vote for the best-decorated vendor booth. The day closes with remarks and a toast to a more inclusive year.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
