Darke County Pride

Darke County Pride is a rural Pride festival organized by the LGBTQ+ Community Center of Darke County. The 2026 festival was held at Shawnee Prairie Preserve outside Greenville from noon to 6 p.m. Organizers moved it to September to mark both Pride and Suicide Prevention Month.

The LGBTQ+ Community Center of Darke County was founded in January 2024 as a volunteer-led nonprofit working toward a county where LGBTQ+ residents and allies feel safe and welcome. Its volunteers host a drop-in center, peer support groups and other programs, and board meetings on the first Tuesday of the month set aside time for community members to share ideas.

The festival pairs Pride with whole-person health. The 2026 event featured a kids and family zone with games and coloring, a booth for the center's youth program for middle and high school students, and Darke County Parks presentations on owls and reptiles. Health partners offered low-cost vaccines through the county health department, free HIV and STI testing, and free legal advice and resources.

The stage lineup included guest speakers, a DJ, two drag shows with performers from around the Ohio Valley, and a mass wedding officiated by Rev. Jay Brock. More than 20 vendors and resource groups set up along a vendor path, an indoor cafeteria sold hot dogs, pizza and snacks, and visitors could walk the Shawnee Prairie trails.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Darke County Pride has included festival, vendors, food trucks and performers.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held September 12, 2026. It usually falls september in 2026.
