Kauai Pride Parade and Festival

The Kauai Pride Parade and Festival travels along Rice Street in Lihue to the Historic County Building lawn, where a festival follows. It is organized with the YWCA of Kauai, and the 2026 event was the eighth annual.

The Kauai Pride Parade and Festival began in June 2019 as a family-friendly event, and it aims to promote peace, acceptance and unity for everyone on the island regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or background. The 2026 parade ran from 10 to 11 a.m., starting at Vidinha Stadium, with the festival on the lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In 2025, 35 businesses, organizations and community groups marched, and the festival hosted 52 vendors and community resource tables, six food vendors and local entertainers. Parade entry is free for nonprofits, community groups and churches and $250 for businesses, which includes a sponsorship. Floats are welcome but not required, and groups can walk together, decorate a vehicle or march in costume.

Since 2022 the event has funded the Kauai Pride Scholarship, which began with two $1,500 academic awards and grew to three in 2026. More than 50 businesses, organizations and individuals supported the event in 2025, and supporters include local churches, the Hawaii State Teachers Association Kauai Chapter and the National Tropical Botanical Garden.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls first Saturday of June.
