Ferndale Pride

Ferndale Pride is a free, all-ages street festival in downtown Ferndale along West 9 Mile Road. The one-day event features three entertainment areas, more than 200 vendors, a children's area, and health and community resources. Organizers describe it as the largest free-to-the-public LGBTQ+ festival in Michigan.

Ferndale Pride was founded in 2011, and its organizers promised from the start that the event would always give back. Since then it has returned more than 500,000 dollars to charities serving LGBTQAI+ people in Southeast Michigan, funded by sponsors and fundraising events held throughout the year. Ferndale, in Metro Detroit, is often called the region's unofficial gayborhood.

The festival fills West 9 Mile Road from Woodward Avenue to Livernois Avenue and is the city's largest vending event, with more than 220 vendors that include local businesses and community resources. Three stage areas feature Michigan performers, and neighborhood bars, restaurants and shops take part as well.

The organization works with residents, businesses and community groups to promote Pride for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, intersex and ally communities. It recruits sponsors, donors and volunteers each year, and vendor applications typically open in January and close in early March.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Ferndale Pride has included festival and youth events.

Ferndale Pride was first held in 2011.

The next edition is August 7, 2027. It usually falls a Saturday in late May or early June; the 2027 edition is set for early August.
