Ridgefield Pride in the Park

Ridgefield Pride in the Park is an annual celebration at Ballard Park organized by Ridgefield Pride, with a parade around the park. The group also holds fall events such as a Pride art expo and a community Friendsgiving potluck.

Ridgefield Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to foster belonging for LGBTQ+ people, their families and friends in Ridgefield and nearby towns. It notes that the town has nearly 2,400 LGBTQ+ residents, including around 800 seniors. Its goals are to build belonging, educate the public, provide support and celebrate the community.

Its regular programs include a support group for family and friends, a monthly LGBTQ+ youth support group on Zoom, an arts and crafts group, educational workshops and an All Are Welcome business inclusivity program. The group also appears at the local farmers market and town events, and it encourages residents to display Pride lawn signs during National Suicide Prevention Month, with crisis resources listed on its website.

Its Oral History Project with the Ridgefield Historical Society has produced a book, Queer in Connecticut: Life Stories Across Generations, to be followed by a release party and a community read. In October it partners with Queen B Coffee Company on a Pride Art Creation Project and Expo, with all art sales benefiting the group, and each November it joins Westport and Wilton Pride and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church for an alcohol-free Friendsgiving potluck.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
