About ATX Trans Pride

ATX Trans Pride is an Austin celebration of trans people and trans artists that began in 2019. The 2026 edition, its seventh year, expanded to a full weekend with a live music showcase, a free all-ages art fest, a rave, a pool party and a drag show at several venues. Collaborators included trans DJ collectives and community arts groups.

ATX Trans Pride was founded by Ed West, a producer and DJ who grew up in Austin. It started as a response to what organizers saw as a lack of trans representation on the lineups at Austin Pride, and the first event took place in August 2019.

The pandemic kept the event from happening in 2020, and it returned each August from 2021 through 2024. In 2025 it ran twice, once in June and once in August, with a separate lineup of trans artists at each. For 2026 it moved to a September weekend spread across several Austin venues, and each event that weekend was curated by a different member of the local trans community.

The expanded weekend opened with a Friday live music showcase, followed by a family-friendly event on Saturday. Nightlife events ranged from a pool party to a late-night rave and a drag show, and organizers described 2026 as a year of growth for the event.
