Bastrop Pride Street Fair

Bastrop Pride builds community for LGBTQIA+ residents of Bastrop County and raises awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues. Its centerpiece event is a free Pride street fair on Main Street with vendors, a kids zone, live entertainment and community programming. The group marked its fifth year in 2026 with a month of events including a hike, karaoke night and bike ride.

Bastrop Pride is organized as a Texas nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status, operating for charitable and educational purposes. Its stated aim is to increase visibility and reduce prejudice in Bastrop County and the surrounding area.

As the group entered its fifth year, it set a goal of making resources and education half of everything it does. That plan includes outreach to allies, access to free HIV and AIDS testing through partners such as Kind Clinic, and educational literature offered online and in person on well-being and visibility.

Because Bastrop County is largely rural, the group is putting more effort into virtual programming, including discussion groups, book clubs and visits from subject matter experts. The street fair has included a benefit auction, and sponsors have included Vivent Health, a provider focused on ending HIV and AIDS.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
