Brazoria County Pride Festival

Brazoria County Pride is a nonprofit serving LGBTQ+ residents of Brazoria County south of Houston. Its free, family-friendly Pride festival is held at MacLean Park in Lake Jackson with live entertainment, local vendors and community resources. The 2026 festival theme was We Are.

Brazoria County Pride grew out of a need for LGBTQ+ representation in a largely conservative county. It started during the 2020 pandemic as Brazoria County Pride for Youth, led by founder Evan Manuel and a small group of supporters, with help from a Dow grant. When Manuel moved away in 2022, Jessica Truscott took over, set up a formal board and began regular gatherings, including a Freedom To Be Me Picnic at MacLean Park that later grew into the festival. The first Brazoria County Pride Festival was held in 2023 with the theme Community.

The group stays busy between festivals. A Saturday Coffee Social meets on the first Saturday of each month at Panera Bread in Lake Jackson, and Out With Pride, an evening social for adults, meets on the third Thursday at Casa Tequila. Both are free, with food and drinks available to buy, and a craft-focused social for makers of all skill levels is in the works.

Brazoria County Pride also raises money for a scholarship and grant fund for local students, including through ticketed drag shows featuring performers such as Cyn City, Kymber DeVine and Porsche Paris. Its stated values center on dignity, equality and safe spaces, pursued through education, advocacy and support.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls early June.
