Canby Pride

Canby Pride is a registered nonprofit that works for a safe and welcoming Canby and holds an annual June Pride.

Canby Pride was started in 2020 by local residents who felt LGBTQIA+ people in rural areas deserved visibility and connection close to home. In its first years it ran almost entirely on volunteer time, community donations and local partnerships, and attendance grew each year. It has since become a year-round nonprofit working on advocacy, education and community building in Canby and nearby rural towns.

The June event, Pride at Wait Park, is free and family friendly and draws hundreds of people from around the region for live entertainment, local vendors, resource tables, art and music. It remains the group's largest event of the year.

Outside of June, Canby Pride works with local businesses, libraries, faith communities and other nonprofits to make public spaces across town more visible and welcoming. Its vision is a Canby where local government, schools, businesses and residents are informed and supported enough that LGBTQ+ people can live openly without fear, with the aim of inclusion throughout the community rather than only in separate LGBTQIA+ spaces.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. It usually falls june.
