Hampton Roads Pride PrideFest

Hampton Roads Pride is a nonprofit that produces a three-day Pride Weekend across Norfolk and Virginia Beach each June. In 2026 it ran June 26 to 28, opening with a block party, followed by the 38th annual PrideFest at Town Point Park on the Norfolk waterfront on June 27 with live performances, vendors and the Pride Boat Parade, and closing with Pride at the Beach at 31st Street Park on June 28.

Hampton Roads Pride is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) incorporated in 1997. Its work extends past the festival into advocacy on health, housing and legal issues, collaboration with regional governments on inclusive policies, and support for LGBTQ+ liaison officers. Funding scholarships for young LGBTQ+ leaders is an annual budget priority, and members can vote on the organization's leaders and bylaw changes or join planning committees.

Pride Weekend opens with a ticketed block party at the NorVa, with DJ sets from local artists, drag and a dress-up theme. The main PrideFest day at Town Point Park has multiple stages, local talent, community resources and family activities, and it includes what the organization calls the only Pride Boat Parade in the country, on the Elizabeth River. The weekend closes with Pride at the Beach, where DJs play by the ocean and the annual Pride March travels the Virginia Beach boardwalk. PrideFest and Pride at the Beach are free with an RSVP, and one-day and three-day VIP upgrades are available.

Through its Pride 365 program the group keeps events going all year, including a speaker series, social mixers, performing arts outings and visits to cultural venues with partners. In June, a Pride Brew Tour brings local breweries together with special releases and Pride-themed events throughout the month.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 26-28, 2026. It usually falls last full weekend of June.
