About Kentuckiana Pride Parade and Festival
The Kentuckiana Pride Parade and Festival is Louisville's June Pride, produced by the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation on the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park. The 2026 festival on June 20 ran from noon to 10 p.m. with live entertainment, more than 100 nonprofit, artist, business and food vendors and family activities. General admission is ticketed, with free entry for young children and seniors.
The Kentuckiana Pride Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to promote social, economic and health equity for sexual and gender minorities in the Louisville region by advocating pride, celebrating achievements and educating leaders. It took its current form in 2000 but began in the 1980s as a picnic for queer people, and it has grown into one of the largest LGBTQ+ foundations in the region. Giving back to the community is a core part of its work.
The foundation places the festival within Louisville's long history of LGBT activism. That history includes the Louisville Gay Liberation Front, a marriage lawsuit filed by Marjorie Jones and Tracy Knight after they were denied a license in Jefferson County, the founding of the Lesbian Feminist Union, and a 1982 Pride picnic at Otter Creek sponsored by Gays and Lesbians United for Equality. Local activist David Williams started an LGBT archive in 1982, and it has been housed at the University of Louisville since 2001.
The festival features more than 100 vendors, including local nonprofits, artists, businesses and food sellers. Performer slots are limited, and the foundation receives hundreds of applications each year.
