Lawrence Pride

Lawrence Pride holds its annual celebration on the first Saturday in June. A parade runs down Massachusetts Street to South Park, where the festival continues with vendors, food and drink, drag showcases, a kids' stage, and live music.

Lawrence PRIDE is an organization that supports and advocates for the LGBTQ+ community in Lawrence, Kansas, with a mission of creating safe, inclusive spaces where people can celebrate who they are and live openly. Beyond the June celebration, it holds events through the year to raise awareness of important issues and support its members, including a Queer Voices storytelling event in the fall. Its board is chosen through elections, and the group offers sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for people who want to help.

Pride in its current form dates to 2017, when community members began holding small celebrations at local venues. As the event grew in popularity it moved to larger spaces to make room for more people. Other Pride events have since taken root around town, including weekly drag nights and the annual Miss Gay Kansas United States pageant, and the City of Lawrence issues a Pride proclamation every June.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls first Saturday of June.
