Montclair Pride

Montclair Pride is an annual festival produced by Out Montclair. It features stages of musicians, dancers and spoken word artists along with artisans, LGBTQ+ owned businesses and community groups. In 2026 it moved to Lackawanna Station and to October 11, National Coming Out Day, marking its fifth year.

Out Montclair Inc. was founded in 2022 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to raise awareness and offer support and solidarity for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults in Montclair and nearby towns. It creates, produces and funds Montclair Pride on its own, and the festival helps pay for year-round educational, cultural, advocacy and community-building programs. Co-founder Reubena Spence oversees the group's programming, which includes more than 50 offerings.

The festival draws attendees from Montclair, Essex County, northern New Jersey and the greater New York area. The 2026 edition includes a main stage with speakers and live performances, a family zone with arts, crafts and interactive activities, more than 150 vendors, beer and beverage gardens, food trucks, and appearances by elected officials and activists. Admission is free.

The 2026 festival is funded in part through a GoFundMe campaign, with every dollar going to required event expenses. Volunteers help with setup, teardown, fundraising and greeting guests.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The next edition is October 11, 2026. It usually falls varies; 2026 edition held on National Coming Out Day in October.
