South Bergen PrideFest

South Bergen PrideFest, formerly the Rutherford PrideFest, was expanded and renamed to welcome the wider South Bergen community. It offers live music, drag performances, artisan and community vendors, food trucks and a family-friendly Pride area.

South Bergen PrideFest is organized by the Rutherford Pride Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created in 2018 by local residents who wanted to build visibility and community for LGBTQ+ people and allies in Rutherford. Its mission now extends across southern Bergen County, and it works through social events, education and philanthropic partnerships.

The alliance's first Pride flag raising in 2019 drew more than 400 people of all ages. That same year it installed a display on LGBT history in the Coccia Community Window. It has also held a storytelling night in the style of The Moth, taken part in the town clean-up day, and co-sponsored the NEON Ball, a fundraiser for PrideFest, with the Rutherford Arts Council. Its programming mixes social events with education, as with the history window display, and with philanthropic partnerships in Rutherford and beyond.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls first Saturday in June.
