Boonton Rainbow Pride

Boonton Rainbow Pride is a grassroots collaboration of residents and business owners that brings people to Main Street to support local businesses while celebrating the community. The day includes a flag raising at the Elks Lodge, a DJ and dancing, crafts and lawn games. The first event was held in June 2021.

The organizers are Boonton residents and business owners with a range of connections to the LGBTQIA+ community, and their goal is to present Boonton as a safe and supportive town. The day is meant to draw visitors to the shops on Main Street, with an emphasis on education and community pride alongside the celebration. The group considers its June 2021 gathering the inaugural Boonton Rainbow Pride and intends it to continue for years to come.

After the morning flag raising at the Elks Lodge, the program moves at noon to Grace Lord Park for speakers and performers. The park also hosts Raise Your Pride, an interactive flag display. The event is funded by sponsors, community partners and individual donations, which also support year-round programming beyond the June event.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The next edition is June 19, 2027. It usually falls third Saturday in June.
